Max Annual Cycling

To align with most battery warranties, our forecast allows you to choose a maximum number of cycles per year as well as maximum number of cycles per day.

To do this, we initially run our battery dispatch model with just the daily cycle limit. We then split the dispatch into 'subcycles' which we define as 1 hour of charging and discharging (plus efficiency losses) and calculate the revenue per MWh of each subcycle. Finally, the least profitable subcycles are removed until the annual cycling is below the chosen limit. This results in a distribution of cycling with some days cycling up to or close to the max daily limit, but some days cycling very small amounts.

This does give the battery 'perfect' visibility of which subcycles are the least profitable, but unprofitable subcycles are far easier to predict than the most profitable subcycles, so this foresight will have very minimal impact on revenues.
